LiveStories Data Maps Just Got a Whole Lot Better

The best way of showing a lot of data points without confusing your audience is by using maps. Data maps are great because they help the audience tie the data points to a geographic location allowing them to get a better sense of the context. One of my favorite things about maps is that they double as a heat map where light colors indicate low values and dark colors indicate high values. This means that outliers are clearly visible, and the colors guide the eye towards the most interesting focus areas.

Our map feature has always been popular, but a common request from our customers was to make the maps more detailed. The simplicity of our previous maps were great for state maps and country maps, but when you created zip code and city maps, details such as location and street names were missing. But all that just changed, thanks to your feedback.

We are excited to announce that we have launched better data maps and they look AMAZING! (Sorry, I'm really excited about this update). Now place names are clearly visible and even get more detailed as you zoom in, the maps have colors, and you can see locations of parks, water ways, and other points of interest. You can see before and after photos below. Let us know what you think.
